From a Childhood Passion to a Thriving Business

When I was young, my grandmother gifted me a crocheted afghan. It was beautiful, full of colors, and had a fun wavy pattern. I asked her to teach me how to make something so pretty that would also keep me warm. So she sat down to teach me the basics and let me tell you, it was hard. My crochet lines were solid but I couldn't make a single square that didn't turn into a triangle (from missed stitches as I later learned).

Attempting a blanket seemed like a daunting feat but I though I would get there eventually. Then came our 5th grade market where we would make an item and sell them for up to $2 to learn about creating, marketing, and selling items...and maybe even pocket some profit. I knew I wanted to crochet, but with just a single line, what could I make? With some guidance from my mother, we turned that single line into a bookmark (back when we all read paper books) by adding small charms at the bottom and tags at the top. And there started my crochet empire! Not really, but I did make enough to take my family to dinner at McDonald's.

After that, I let crocheting go because I couldn't turn that line into anything...until college. I was looking for a hobby and thought I would pick up crocheting again. I started watching YouTube videos and making hats. They were smaller and quicker than blankets and I made myself quite a collection of beanies. Then it was time to attempt a blanket. My first one took six months of dedicated work and I used the same yarn as my grandmother, but I didn't like that it felt scratchy. So I went looking for something softer.

Fast forward a few years and I turned my passion for crochet into this site and business. I have expanded my portfolio to the items I enjoy most- fidget corals, blankets, scarves (with pockets!), flowers, and art! I love making things that are interesting and soft to touch.

I am constantly seeking out new and inventive things to make, which is how I started creating crocheted art. Excited to see what I make next? Me too!
